Material Safety Data Sheets
ChemWatch is the University’s chemical management and database system. You can maintain chemical inventories using this system, and also obtain MSDS information (without a log-in). You must be able to obtain MSDS information within 2 minutes, which means that all of your chemicals must have the correct CAS-No. information on the bottles. It is recommended that paper copies be kept in the laboratory or work area for hazardous chemicals, and that these are also appended to the appropriate SOPs.
NOTE: MSDS obtained from non Australian sources may not contain all the information required for compliance with Australian and Victorian legislation or codes of practice. If you are unsure contact the original supplier, importer or manufacturer. Some useful sites are:

APS Chemicals. Formerly APS Ajax. A good source of Australian MSDS. Click on "Online MSDS" at bottom of page. Requires registration and password.
- Sigma-Aldrich-Fluka. An American site for all their products and associated companies. Requires registration and password.
- Merck MSDSs. Available in Worksafe format. Click on "Support", then "Material Safety Data Sheets ".
- BOC Gases Australian formatted MSDS for their products and Mathieson products. Click on "Safety" then on "Safety Data Sheets".
- MP Biomedicals Formerly ICN, an American site with a wide range of chemicals. Click on "Technical" then "MSDS".
- Chem Supply An alternative Australian site. Look up product in "Catalogue" and click on MSDS sheet information.
- CCINFO Canadian searchable databases for free (if you have University of Melbourne web address).
- MSDSOnline An American site with lots of links.
