The induction process

Departmental Induction will now be delivered as six 1.5 hr units, each of which will run three to four times per year, depending on demand. To complete Departmental Induction, students and staff must have attended and gained competency in all six units. Staff and students will have six months from their date of commencement to complete both Training Record 1 and Training Record 2 and submit copies of these completed records to the Safety Coordinator.

Training Record 1 records the student or staff’s initial Orientation, which should be conducted and the training record completed by a supervisor within the first week of commencement.

Training record 2 will record completion of the six Induction units. It should be submitted with the assessment quiz at the conclusion of each unit and will be returned after the quiz has been marked.

Students and Staff who have attended Induction in 2009 will receive a certificate listing the six units and indicating which units they have and have not completed. Those who attended all of the Induction Program and satisfactorily completed all of the quizzes will have completed all six units. Those who have not completed all six units may resubmit the quiz if they attended the session or will be required to complete the unit when it is next offered.

Induction records will be tabulated in the !All folder of the Shared drive so that they can be checked at any time.

All units will be run in the Pittard Room from 2.00pm to 3.30pm. Attendees should bring a pen and their Training Record 2.
