Changes in Committee structure

At the start of 2008 we saw significant changes in the structure of the IgV Committee with the retirement of the President of 3 years, Dale Godfrey and the Secretary of more years than we can remember, Ian Barr. We also said farewell to our student representatives Kirsten Fairfax and Nick van den Velde, and to Martin Pearse who was replaced as CSLs representative by Jeff Boyle. We wish to thank all these contributors for their terrific efforts on behalf of Victorian immunologists.

We also gained several new members this year including Stuart Berzins, John Stambas, Jeff Boyle, Ed Hawkins and Adam Karpala and are about to appoint new student representatives. Steve Turner also replaced Phil Darcy as ASI Councillor.

IgV Website

The IgV website has had a grand makeover thanks to IT students Emma Jackson and Ben Pearson and will soon move to a new address. Watch for the new link.

World Day of Immunology

IgV contributed funds to support Melbourne’s efforts for the World Day of Immunology on April 29th 2008. IgV member John Stambas joined the team to organize a display in the atrium at Federation Square consisting of information banners, viewing of cells and histology slides under the microscope and giant screen display of animations depicting clonal selection, apoptosis and other facets of immunity and cell biology.
